Fenstür Tilt and Turn 106 Passive vs Tilt and Turn 78

Same structural rating, both inward-opening, both in all-wood or aluminum-clad. The difference is depth. The 106 mm frame takes triple glazing and is a certified Passive House component; the 78 mm frame is the standard depth, with a slimmer frame in the wall.

  • Choose Tilt and Turn 106 Passive if the energy model or a Passive House target needs the lowest U-value, or the wall is thick enough that the deeper frame sits better in the insulation layer.
  • Choose Tilt and Turn 78 if the project meets code with room to spare or the wall assembly suits a shallower frame. Ask the sales rep to price both.

Fenstür Tilt and Turn 106 Passive and Tilt and Turn 78 differ on glazing. Neither leads on the published performance numbers.

Performance
Performance, range across configurations
U-factorHow fast heat passes through the whole window. Lower is better insulation. US values are in Btu/h·ft²·°F.
0.14
SHGCSolar heat gain coefficient: the share of the sun’s heat that gets through, from 0 to 1. Lower keeps homes cooler.
Not published
VTVisible transmittance: the share of daylight that gets through, from 0 to 1. Higher means brighter rooms.
Not published
RatingThe NAFS performance class and grade, e.g. CW-PG70. Shows the loads the window passed in testing.
CW-PG70
Design pressureThe wind load, in pounds per square foot, a window is rated to resist. Upper floors, corners and coastal sites need more.
Not published
STC / OITCSound transmission class: how well the window blocks speech-range noise. Higher is quieter; 32 and up is noticeably quiet.
Not published
ImpactTested to withstand wind-borne debris (ASTM E1886/E1996). Required in hurricane debris regions unless shutters are used.
